East Bay Vivarium
Best Herp store in  the West. Located underneath the 880 when it collapsed during the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake.  Rumor has it that more than a  few of snakes got loose!!!!  Friendly, unflappable staff and lots of scaley creatures for sale. Oh, spiders too, but I try not to look at those.
1827 5th St(betw. Virginia St & Hearst Ave) Berkeley, CA 94710
Have a great online store too but don't expect it to be supercurrent

Thumbtack
Nice alternative to a very popular site for services that I use but detest their giant faceless entity nature when it comes to flagging, etc. and being able to talk to a real live human being. Thumbtack is elegant, well trafficked, and very user friendly!

Shollenberger Park   www.petalumawetlandspark.org
Best kept secret of Sonoma County. Over 187 birds and reptiles find a safe haven there too.  Kingsnakes, lots of Pacific Gopher Snakes,  Western Pond Turtles, all in their natural environment.  Red Eared Sliders, an invasive species, also present, and the PRBO (a major conservation and educational organization) has their new headquarters on the SE corner.

The new Ellis Creek Water Treatment Facility now open just south of Shollenberger Park and is directly linked  via a new bike and foot path.  Go see Otters frollicking by the shore at the new Butterfly Pond or spot a red sided garter snake in the mud flats area!  Facebook "Moms for Clean Air!"                             http://cityofpetaluma.net/wrcd/ellis-creek.html

Olompali State Park
Olompali is home to a former Miwok village site, as well as a great place to see kingsnakes, gopher snakes, and western skinks.
The Park entrance can be accessed only from 101 going south from Petaluma to Novato.  Rush Creek trailhead is found  at th next exit, right along the access road at Atherton. This is a fun, easily accessible stroll along the wetlands.

Annadel State Park
My all time personal favorite.  Lake Ilsanjo crowns this State Park and Ledson Marsh is also located atop it's magnificent mountain meadow.  Garter snakes can be seen near the lake as well as Kingsnakes, Western Racers, Blue tail Skinks, and occasionally Pacific Rattlers. Pacific Pond Turtles and Newts frequent Ledson Marsh.

The greatest Reptile portal on the Internet is hands down,  Kingsnake.com, literally the eBay of Reptiles as well as other pets.

And in memorium, prayers and respect to the late great Steve Irwin who demonstrated beyond a slither of a doubt  that Reptiles deserve Love, too.  Maybe gone, but never forgotten! We still miss you, Steve!
